Dorsey Hovde Art Design - Our Story

Our Story

Victoria Dorsey Hovde
Founder/ Principal

Our story begins almost thirty years ago. Victoria Hovde started out teaching high school art while pursuing her love as an artist. With a growing interest in design, she then worked for a firm who specialized in corporate and healthcare design where she gained valuable hands-on experience in interior and architectural art design. Later hired by a leading Twin Cities gallery as a corporate art consultant, she was trained in the new field of art professionals who educate and advise companies about investing and collecting art.

In the late 70's, Victoria founded Dorsey Hovde Art Design, an art consulting firm that could offer combined skills in art advising and management; and custom art design. Since then, she has led DHAD to become a leader in art consulting by developing world-class art collections and providing comprehensive services from artistic concept development through installation for regional and national clients.

Since 1985, Victoria has had a personal interest in art and healing. Focusing her passion on researching and integrating the arts into healthcare environments, she understands the important relationship of art, evidence-based design, and the healing principles discovered in the neurosciences.

"When I read my first book explaining mind/body research done in imagery and imagination with cancer patients, my life and work changed forever. Intuitively, I knew how it worked. I've been spending 3 decades proving that it does."

Victoria is a founding member of the Global Alliance for Arts & Health, an organization that has grown to over 1700 members from around the globe; the Midwest Arts in Healthcare Network; and, The Center for Health Design. Clients of DHAD gain valuable access to these organizations, its research and award-winning initiatives.

Victoria has an interdisciplinary art degree in Art Education, Studio Arts and Psychology from Minnesota State University Moorhead; with advanced education through the National Endowment for the Arts in Public Art Administration. She has been an active volunteer and has served on several boards in school, church and youth organizations. She also is certified as a hospice and bereavement care volunteer. Nationally recognized for her site-specific and collaborative artwork, Victoria has been commissioned by financial, corporate, liturgical and healthcare clients over the years.
